The Global African Diaspora Summit

Lots of people are calling or writing to get information about the Global African Diaspora Summit, taking place in South Africa on the 23rd-25th May, 2012, especially people want to know about the program of action at the Summit.  The African Union has done a wonderful job of providing the best information on the Summit on their own website: http://au.int/en/summit/happening/diasporasummit2012

All the information you need to know about the summit is all on the website.  For journalists who wish to attend, below is the information:

GLOBAL AFRICAN DIASPORA SUMMIT, JOHANNESBURG, 23-25 MAY 2012
ANNOUNCEMENT TO JOURNALISTS

ACCREDITATION:

Journalists who are interested in covering the Global Africa Diaspora Summit to be hosted by the African Union in South Africa from 23 -- 25 May 2012 under the theme:  "Towards the Realisation of a United and Integrated Africa and its Diaspora", are strongly requested to be accredited.

Members of the media are invited to apply for accreditation to the Global African
Diaspora Summit.

Applications for accreditation should include the following:


1. Full Names;
2. Name of media house;
3. Designation (e.g., reporter, photographer) ;
4. ID/passport number.

The above information should be forwarded to the following addresses no later
than 18 May 2012:

The theme of the Summit is; "TOWARDS THE REALISATION OF A UNITED AND INTEGRATED AFRICA AND ITS DIASPORA" and the subtext of the theme on the 25th May meeting is: "AFRICA AND HER DIASPORA, A SHARED PAST, PRESENT AND FUTURE"

3.  African Diaspora Conference dedicated to Women and Youth

4.  Pan-African Parliament Opening Session

5.  May 22:  Pan-African Parliament Session - Special Debate Dedicated to the African Diaspora

There are 64 Heads of State invited, including the President of Brazil, and 500 delegates.  The National Conference of Black Mayors are scheduled to make a presentation.
